3rd Cursa de la Dona de Canyelles

On Sunday 12 April the 3rd Cursa de la Dona de Canyelles (Canyelles Women’s Race) was held, once again turning the town’s streets pink. It is a charity race whose proceeds will go to sarcoma research through our Foundation. More than 600 people took part, runners and walkers alike, and it made us very proud to see this great pink tide clocking up the kilometres for our cause.

Participants could choose between an 8 km race and a non-competitive 4 km walk, both starting and finishing in Plaça Francesc Macià. The route wound through the town’s natural surroundings and, for the first time, passed Canyelles Castle.

Although it was not a competitive race, the organisers wanted to present a keepsake to the first three women to finish, in both the overall and the local rankings. The overall podium went to Laura Rios, Mariella Morales and Maria Carmen Sánchez, and the local podium to Dorina Barrios, Anna Balz and Marta Ribé. Sergi Vilella was also recognised as the first man to finish. The awards were presented by the Mayoress of Canyelles, Rosa Huguet; the Councillor for Sport, Benito Nogales; and our president, Mercè Codina.

We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Canyelles Town Council, Grup Dona Voluntariat and Runners Entrenaments 15 hores for their dedication and hard work in organising such a wonderful race for a good cause. And thank you, too, to everyone who took part: every kilometre you covered helps us keep driving sarcoma research forward. Thank you so much!
